World Cities Database - Excel and MySQL

As I have explained, this database was never meant to include every single tiny town on earth. Such databases exist and contain millions of entries. My goal was a manageable database, targeting primarily the U.S. and Canada, but also including the major cities in all other countries.

The reason behind it is that databases containing too many entries are completely unusable for multi-level location selector scripts – you don't want users to wait 20 minutes before your script loads thirty thousand villages in Uzbekistan.

For example, my database only has 2 entries for Dominica. But why would you want to overload your database with towns with less than 1,000 inhabitants?
